Are there any inflation limits for certain types of transport containers?

Check local legislation for recommended dunnage air bag load requirements. Do not overinflate to avoid punctures or leaks. Some rail container best practices suggest bags should not be inflated to be over 12” wide, but make sure that this applies to your application. Bags should be inflated to have a firm feel and fit securely in place when placed between cargo.

How are dunnage air bags installed and inflated?

The bags are placed in the voids between cargo, then quickly inflated with a handheld inflator. As they expand, they press against the load and container walls, securely locking everything in place. Before inflating, check the cargo for any rough or sharp surfaces that could puncture the air bag. Once complete, unfurl the bag, attach the inflator device, and ensure the bag doesn’t touch the floor. Place the deflated bag in the container in place of the product. Inflate the bag so it rests firmly between the two pallets, then disconnect the inflator and secure the valve cap.

Are Dunnage Air Bags reusable?

Yes, the bags are reusable! While unloading a container, you can open the bag valve and deflate it. The empty bags can be folded with the valve facing up and stored neatly for later use. Norseman recommends that these bags be reused only about 5 times each. After this many uses, the bags should be deflated and disposed of. Dunnage air bags are 100% recyclable and can be placed in your facilities’ blue bin.

Dunnage bags are air bladders made from composite poly materials that can be inflated or deflated through a valve. The padded bags assist in securing goods in place and protect them from damage while in transport. They hold the cargo in place within the trailer or container during transport.

Yes, these bags work in trailers, compartments and containers on land, sea or rail! Dunnage air bags control the movement of cargo loads inside of delivery truck trailers or compartments, as well as ISO sea containers on oceangoing vessels and closed railcars. They manage the movement of cargo by bracing loads, filling voids, protecting cargo from in-transit damage and absorbing vibrations.

Bags come in a variety of widths and lengths to accommodate any manner of cargo setups. Norseman provides bags that are (36" - 48") wide by (40" - 102") long in different combinations. Custom sizes are available upon request.
