How do I choose the right adapter for my airflow setup?

You need to consider what you’re trying to achieve with the adapter, as each type has a specific function. Wye adapters split one pathway into two at roughly a 45° angle. If you were running a main duct down a corridor in a building and wanted to cool two rooms on opposite sides of the hallway, a wye adapter would be ideal for splitting into two separate pathways, one for each space. If you were bending a duct pathway around a 90° corner, an elbow adapter creates a natural bend in the duct pathway, so you don’t have to worry about kinking the duct as you adjust direction. Enlargers and reducers are used to either increase or decrease the diameter of a duct pathway. This can be used to concentrate airflow from a larger duct into a smaller one, or to ease airflow by going from a smaller to a larger duct.

Can a T-splitter adapter affect overall airflow performance?

T-splitters split air at a 90° angle, which can cause higher resistance, turbulence, and noise. Therefore, it can "choke" airflow, making it less efficient as an adapter. This is one of the advantages of using a wye adapter at 30° or 45 °. It minimizes turbulence and reduces pressure loss, resulting in smoother, more consistent airflow.

How do fabric adapters help with noise issues in a duct network?

Fabric adapters can act as a "sound baffle," minimizing noise from air turbulence and fan vibration from the AC unit. The polyethylene (PE) fabric on our adapters resists UV rays and is flame-, mildew-, and water-resistant. They also fold up neatly for easy transport and storage. You can clean these adapters with soap and water or give them a brisk rinse with a pressure washer to help maintain their appearance and efficiency. A routine cleaning can include vacuuming or using compressed air to remove surface dust.

What’s the difference between a wye and elbow adapter?

Yes. All of our ducts are interchangeable. For example, use the Aero Airstream duct with a wye adapter and split the air into two Evenair Diffusion ducts.
