Are all heat duct adapters rated for the same temperature?

All adapters, regardless of size, are rated for up to 500°F (260°C). These adapters are made from high-heat silicone fabric because they can be placed directly on the heater unit’s output flange and split the single output into two duct outputs right at the source.

What are the standard sizes available with the Heat Duct Adapters?

Accepted Answer

There are seven common sizes for heat ducting adapters. Each adapter has a QuickGrip collar at the entry and different collar sizes at the two outputs. There’s a 12” entry adapter that splits into two 12” ducts, with collar options including QuickGrip to two wire-ring collars or QuickGrip to two pin-lock collars. There’s a 16” entry adapter option. At the output end, it splits into two different 16” ducts or reduces to two different 12” ducts. Both size options feature the QuickGrip at the entry point and two wire-ring collars on the output side. The 20” entry adapter has the QuickThe 20” entry adapter has a QuickGrip collar. At the output end, it splits into two wire-ring collars of different sizes. One variant splits a 20” duct into two 20” paths. Another reduces a 20” duct into two 12” paths. Try an adapter with the QuickGrip collar, which splits into two 16” paths with wire-ring collars.

Can heat duct adapters go from a smaller size to a larger size?

It’s not recommended to do this because a smaller duct input to two larger ducts can strain the heater unit and reduce airflow in the larger output ducts. Switching from a larger duct to two smaller outputs is better. This method takes the higher air volume and divides it into two smaller channels, still delivering efficient heated air in both paths.

Can heat ducting adapters be custom manufactured for unique airflow requirements?

Yes. Custom sizing is available upon request. Adapters can be tailored to specific heater connections, duct diameters, and airflow configurations. This flexibility helps ensure a good fit for special applications where standard sizes are not suitable.

Can all types of Norseman ducts be used in the adapters and be used simultaneously?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All of our ducts are interchangeable. For example, use the Arctic Durashield Plus duct with a wye adapter and split the air into two Arctic Econorush ducts.

What’s the difference between a wye and elbow adapter?

Accepted Answer

A wye adapter creates two air paths from one so heat reaches different environments. The 90° elbow bends one air path to minimize airflow restrictions.
